  • Hagerstown Will Host Auto Car Grand Prix Go Cart Races For Jubilee Days
August 16, 2010
Go Cart Race From SIRA Website

According to Cindy Harper, from the Lions Club in Hagerstown Indiana, this weekend will be an exciting one for the 2010 Jubilee Days.

Festivities begin on Friday afternoon with the Festival Market which will be located on S. Plum Street and run until the end of the festival.  Saturday will be the always entertaining parade, complete with marching band, which will start around 10:00 a.m.

And the big event of the weekend will be the Go Cart Races. Cindy relayed that about 80 drivers will participate on the one mile figure eight course, located on South Factory Street-just south of the Festival Market.  The ages of the drivers range from only 5 years old up to 50+.

These races are part of the Southern Indiana Racing Association. Drivers will be practicing from 8-10 a.m. prior to the parade on Saturday.  Following the parade there will be more practices with 14 different races starting at around 12:30 p.m.  Several different sizes of carts and engines will participate. Bleacher seating will be available –some in the shade.

This Is Also A Family Event

The racers, who will be traveling from all over Indiana and surrounding areas, will be staying in Hagerstown in a tent community for the weekend.  For these die hard racers, this is also a family event with generations of families racing in the Grand Prix Go Cart Races together.

Along with the parade, Festival Market, and races there will be plenty of good food sold by different vendors and clubs. Also included will be fresh produce and baked goods.

“The support in the town for the races has been great.”

According to Cindy Harper.  From the City Manager, Bob Warner, to the fire department which will be trained to work the corners of the race, different clubs and the community—everyone has been pitching in.

If that is not enough excitement for one weekend, Saturday evening Jubilee Days will host a dance for young people starting around 8:00 p.m. and ending by 11:00 p.m.  There will be two live bands for this event.

You can get to Hagerstown by taking US 40 West to 1 going North to 38 and then left into Hagerstown.  Or you can take 38 West all the way into town.  Another fun weekend in store for Wayne County,  brought to you by Hagerstown—the town of “2000 happy people.”
