Jubilee Days in Hagerstown

Aug 20 – 22 2010

The annual celebration, which begins Friday evening and runs through Sunday, will include Go Cart Races, a variety of crafts and all types of fair food; fresh produce and baked goods, a night dance and two bands for musical entertainment; and the traditional Jubilee Days Parade on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. Following the parade will be Go Cart Grand Prix races.  Read more about this event at GoWayneCounty.com

Lemon Wheel- Summer Concert Series at Glen Miller Park

Friday, August 20, 8pm – 10pm

Top 40 music from the 60’s to today- to dance to and just have a good time. Sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Dept of Richmond.  To preview the band go to Lemonwheel.com. Cost : Free

The Wizard Of Oz

Aug 20 – 22 2010, Richmond Civic Theatre

The beginning of the 70th Season of Civic Theatre highlights the August production of the Wizard of Oz. All evening productions at 7:30 p.m. Sunday Matinees begin at 2:00 p.m.  This is a must see especially for avid fans of the yellow brick road which you’ll be able to follow downtown to the theatre.

Cambridge City’s Got Talent

Saturday, August 21, Cambridge City Evening Kiwanis Club is sponsoring Cambridge City Has Talent. Contestants have already been selected prior to the contest by submitting a video.  Come see the amazing talent of people in Wayne County. Prizes will be awarded: 1st Place: 100.00, 75.00 second prize, third place prize 50.00.

Darke County Fair: Starts Friday

Aug 20 – 28 2010, Greenville Ohio

Celebrating 154 years of fairs, they will have their “Band Spectacular” on Monday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m., an opportunity for bands to perform routines non-competitively. Greenville Ohio is about 30 miles from most points in Wayne County.

Creative Writing Presentation: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

“Creative Writing Presentation” Writing Workshop with award winning author: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who is the author of the novels Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, and a collection of short stories titled The Thing around Your Neck. She has received numerous awards and distinctions, including the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction and a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. For Sunday’s presentation Adichie discusses processes involved with creative writing.
