Cambridge City Canal Days
US 40 National Scenic Byway
September 10-12, 2010, Cambridge City will host their annual Canal Days. Friday evening will start the festival activities with a Corn Hole tournament. Saturday is a full schedule of activities for all ages including: a Golf Tournament, Antique Tractor Show, an 8:00 a.m. Firefighter 5K Run which starts and ends at the Cambridge City Fire Station, and much much more…continuing into Sunday.
Of course there will be yummy food and several genres of live music all through the weekend. Also vendors of antiques, hand made items and other fun items will fill the streets and sidewalks. To see the entire schedule for the weekend you can go to their site.

Flea Market Under The Overpass : Depot District
2nd of the monthly Flea Markets–every 2nd Saturday of month. Many non-profits setting up to raise money…great vendors and shade! Starting at 8:00 a.m. and runs to 5:00 p.m. And don’t forget the Farmer’s Market in Richmond–Parking lot across from library 7:00 a.m. – noon, locally grown food and baked items.
Victorian Dinner: Quaker Hill Conference Center, Fri, September 10, 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Enjoy a Victorian Dinner at Quaker Hill Conference Center in the historic Evans House built in 1855. Staff will be adorned in period attire along with period appropriate entertainment. You may tour the facilities and enjoy a fine six course meal designed by Victorian manner. The proceeds will benefit Quaker Hill Conference Center a not-for-profit organization. Starr Gennett Music Festival Blues and Barbeque, Saturday, Sep 11, 2010
Whitewater Gorge Park
Coordinated by Richmond Parks Department and The Starr-Gennett Foundation. Blues musicians, family friendly activities and a BBQ. The Gordon Bonham Blues Band, Jennie DeVoe, and Governor Davis and the Blues Ambassadors playing during the free portion of the event. Winner of the mural contest announced at 4:30 p.m. Headliner is: Grammy award winner an Richmond native Deacon Jones with opening act by Garcia and Scott. Tickets for headliner night show are 10.00/adult.
Heritage Festival: Wayne County Historical Museum
This Saturday and Sunday the Wayne County Historical Museum will host it’s annual Heritage Festival. As this year is the celebration of 200 years of Wayne County there will be even more historical reenactments (Civil War era and earlier) along with live music, old time crafts, blacksmithing, a silent auction, good food, and carriage rides.

To add to the festivities there will be an old fashioned tent show put on by Civic Theatre. The Melodrama known as “Wayne County: The Beginning” or “She Escaped by the Seat of Her County, was written by Donald Mellen and directed by he and Jane Turner. Allan Jay: A Centennial Symposium, Sat, September 11, 1pm – 4pm
Earlham College Campus: Stout Meetinghouse
Allen Jay participated in all of the great social and spiritual changes Friends experienced in the 1800s, from the Great Separation to peacemaking and mission work to the creation of Friends United Meeting. Presentors will be: Joshua Brown, editor of new autobiography of Allen Jay, Tom Hamm, Earlham Archivist; and Max Carter. The Symposium includes a visit to Earlham Friends Collection, a tour of campus as Jay knew it, a visit to his grave in the Earlham Cemetery, a visit to West Richmond Friends Meeting and, on Sunday, a visit to Farmer’s Institute in West Lafayette, Ind., where Jay and his wife Martha lived before and during the Civil War. Free admission, no tickets required
Kids Parade:
8:00 p.m. Saturday September 11, 2010. Starts by Glen Miller Park running down Main Street. Theme this year is The Blues. (Some entries will recognize and celebrate the Bicentennial of Wayne County). Come early to get a seat.
