September 8, 2010

Heritage Festival Reenactors 2009

This Saturday and Sunday the Wayne County Historical Museum will host it’s annual Heritage Festival.  As this year is the celebration of 200 years of Wayne County there will be even more historical reenactments (Civil War era and earlier) along with live music, old time crafts, blacksmithing, a silent auction, good food, and carriage rides.

“Wayne County: The Beginning”

To add to the festivities there will be an old fashioned tent show put on by Civic Theatre.  The Melodrama known as “Wayne County: The Beginning” or “She Escaped by the Seat of Her County, was written by Donald Mellen and directed by he and Jane Turner.  The cast are local actors including; Neal Werle as Stanley Trustwell aka “Our Hero”—a dashing fellow.

The heroine, Constant Hope, will be played by Laurie Hirons.  Several other superb actors will play the parts of “Lucifus Landswipe” and many “Hope” characters along with several other appropriately named parts.

The setting for the melodrama is the year 1810 when the county seat is to be selected.  Two sites are being considered when along comes a third site belonging to the Hope family.  A battle ensues full of villainy and heroism.
