Historic Centerville is sponsoring its first Garden and Kitchen Tour on Saturday, June 26, from 9-4 and Sunday, June 27, 11-4 p.m. There are six homes on the tour with all different styles of gardening including two courtyard gardens and one kitchen, according to Lisa Slonaker of the Centerville Farmer’s Market.

Those going on the tour will begin at the Farmer’s Market at 300 N Morton Avenue where they will purchase their $5 ticket and get the list of addresses. The tour will take place rain or shine.
This is a fundraising event and money raised will be used for the maintenance and restoration of The Mansion House Inn and Tavern at 214 E Main Street. The Salisbury Court House and Railroad Shanty are also at that location.
It is hoped that this will become an annual event. If you would like to volunteer your yard or know of a yard to nominate, call Myra Baldwin at 977-5605 or email at myrabaldwin@netzero.net. You can also call Ruth Bane at 855-5350 or email her at rhbane39@aol.com. They will then visit and determine next year’s garden tour.
The last garden show in Centerville occurred two years ago during the Model T convention in Wayne County. It drew many people to the area and was the inspiration for this new and hopefully annual event.
If you are a garden enthusiast and want to see some unique designs for inspiration, or just like looking—you won’t want to miss this opportunity.
