  • Amazing Dogs At The UKC Premier Dog Show

Water Jumping

We almost didn’t make it to the last day of the UKC Premier Dog show Sunday, but are we ever glad we did.

Getting Ready

One of the final events was water jumping and  the more experienced dogs were amazing.  There were also those pups who had never encountered water and were a bit timid–but they tried anyway and it was fun to watch them get wet for the first time.

Pulling Weight

There were so many dog faces to see and take pictures of either while jumping or waiting their turn.  Another set of dogs were competing in a weight pull contest.  These dogs had massive muscles, and one spectator commented that the females were pulling the most weight (I am making no editorial comment here).

Another sight which I personally was thrilled by was the Cold Stone Creamery booth which traveled all the way from Michigan to set up for this great event.

Pups Tried Water For First Time

In the parking lot and around the campground area competitors license plates gave us the idea of how far people traveled to be at this event.  Some of the closer states were Michigan and Ohio while others came from further distances.  With all the enjoyment and education this experience brought, we hope this will become an annual event in Wayne County.

Serious Face of a Competitive Water Jumper

Special thanks should go to the Wayne County Tourism Bureau for bringing this wonderful experience to our area.  And also thanks to the people at UKC who chose our county and fairgrounds to compete with their special dogs.

  1. This leaves me wondering why cat videos are more popular than dog videos on youtube. Dogs rock. Cats are fine, but dogs are a favorite of mine. 🙂

  2. Dogs are way too serious to do the things cats do in videos. These dogs had jobs to do and they were very intent on doing well. You could just see them contemplating their next move–except for the pups (golden labs) they were smiling.
