For Immediate Release:
Whitewater Canal Byway Association to Host Annual Dinner
The Whitewater Canal Byway Association (WCBA) will be hosting its annual dinner March 7, 2013.
2012 saw many new accomplishments for the WCBA that included a driving guide available online so tourists can download all or any part of the Byway they wish to travel. This driving guide is the most comprehensive sectional guide in the state and has even been lauded by the National Scenic Byway Association as the model from which to follow. We developed, and continue to develop, educational opportunities and programs for our children. For Indiana’s fourth graders, 2012 saw the creation and publication of two study guides called the Children’s Discovery Guides on Canals Roads and Rails and Our Presidential Past.
2013 promises more growth with the creation of the regional Visitor’s Pavilion, our third annual “Bluegrass at the Gateway Festival” and historic walking tours of communities throughout the region.
Joining us at our annual dinner as our keynote speaker will be Indiana’s Office of Tourism Development Director, Mark Newman.
Included in the night’s festivities will be the presentation of the Spirit of the Byway award. This prestigious award is given each year to that person or persons who have gone above and beyond in their volunteer support of the WCBA and its mission.
The public is invited to attend but reservations are required and seating is limited. The dinner will be held in the old depot at the Whitewater Valley Gateway Park on US 52 in Metamora and will begin at 6:00 PM; cost per person is $14.95. To make a reservation contact the office of the Whitewater Valley Gateway Park, 765-647-2541 or by email at copperron@aol.com.
