The summer is in full swing, as families get their kids ready to start school soon and want to enjoy the last bits of summer freedom.  So many choices—so little time.  So enjoy!

Twilight Farmers Market: Elstro Park

Tuesday, August 1, 2017  4-7 p.m.

Enjoy all your favorites plus food trucks, a beer garden and music after work.  Pick up the family, or grab your friends, and do some weekday local produce shopping, grab a beer, and eat downtown at Elstro Park.

Meditation Walk: Hayes Arboretum

Thursday, August 3, 2017 6-7:30 p.m.

Find some peace through a meditative walk through the arboretum. These are free events, welcome to anyone age fifteen and older. Meet at the east-side trailhead, near the corner of Hayes Arboretum Road and Woodside Drive. Please note the walks will not go on in inclement weather.

Led by Tamara Hitson and Greg Karch. Free!  (Who doesn’t need a little meditation this time of year?)

Back to School Splash Bash

Thursday, August 3, 2016 7:30 – 10:00 p.m.

Join in the end of summer fun!  Admission 1.00 off if you donate glue sticks, copy paper, backpacks, hand sanitizer, scissors, kleenex’s, earbuds or expo markers.  This is an annual event provided by the Parks & Rec Dept. and a great way to help with school supplies each year.  The first 50 kids will receive a free backpack with supplies.

Chanticleer String Quartet

Friday, August 4, 2017 2:00 – 3:30 p.m

Enjoy the amazing sounds of the Chanticleer String Quartet live at Morrisson Reeves Library this Friday in the Bard Room.  Featuring Carolyn Kemperer Green, and special guest saxophonist Paul Klemperer.  Free Event!

Movies in the Glen

Friday, August 4, 2017 8:30 – 10:30 p.m.

The fun begins in August with the first of the Movies in the Glen Series: School of Rock, with Jack Black.  This is a funny family friendly movie about a non-traditional school teacher reaching kids through the sounds and experience of Rock.  FREE on Roosevelt Hill.  Concessions will be available.   Bring your chairs and/or blankets and snacks for this great outdoor movie experience.  Activities begin at 8:30 with the moving starting at dusk.

Fiddler on the Roof: Civic Theatre Production (Opening Night)

Friday, August 4, 2017 7:30 – 10:00 p.m.

This local production of a musical favorite: Fiddler on the Roof opens this Friday at 7:30.  Other opportunities for this show will be Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  The show will also run next weekend. Call the box office for tickets and read more about the show here!  The productions at Civic Theater/ Main Stage events are rated highly from satisfied patrons across the country!
