Annual Reid Ride Benefit: Shoes For Kids
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the ride starting at 7:30 a.m. Organizers hope to reach up to 600 riders this year which would be significantly higher than last year. In 2010 Reid Ride was able to purchase over 2000 pairs of shoes for kids in Wayne County and this year they hope to do even more. The ride will end with celebratory music played by G101.3. Jam And Dance
In connection with the Tribute to Louis Armstrong Concert tonight, Lamplight Inn at the Leland will host “Jam and Dance” sessions in the Leland Ballroom, located at 900 South A Street, one block from the Murray Theatre. The pre-concert music will play from 5:00 to 6:00, and post-concert music will begin at 9:30. The dance floor will be open, and J&J Winery will offer a cash bar and light snacks.
“The Music and Spirit of Louis Armstrong”
A jazz concert starring trumpeter Byron Stripling backed by a jazz quintet, will be presented on Saturday July 23 at the historic Murray Theatre in Richmond, Indiana. A young Armstrong made some of his first recordings at Richmond’s Gennett Records in 1923 with the King Oliver Creole Jazz Band. In 1941, by then quite famous, he returned to perform on the Murray Theatre stage, and this concert celebrates the 70th anniversary of Armstrong’s Richmond appearance, and starts at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are 20.00.
Spirit Academy & Paranormal Investigation
Held at the Wayne County Historical Museum. It will take place JULY 23rd 1:00 to 10 p.m. The two early sessions are sold out, however all are invited to hear speaker Marilene Isaacs later in the evening “An Evening With Spirit at 8:00 p.m. This event is for adults and children over 13 years.
