The Wayne County Convention & Tourism Bureau announced their 1st Summer Photo Contest today. The contest, sponsored by Jade Matters Photography, with assistance from G101.3, was created by the Bureau in an effort to increase our residents’ and visitor’s awareness and appreciation of Wayne County’s many attractions, activities, and beauty, while also developing the Bureau’s digital library. It will also be a fun way to interact with our residents and visitors while documenting an eventful summer in Wayne County.
Residents and visitors are invited to submit digital images that illustrate their experiences in Wayne County during the summer months. Photos are to be taken of attractions, exhibits/displays, public art, landscapes, historical buildings, etc. and people engaged in activities/actions – either as spectators or participants — at Wayne Co. events and attractions (museums, parks, restaurants, festivals, etc.)
Photos (at least 300 dpi) will be submitted via facebook, e-mail and disk between before between Memorial Day and September 30, 2011 and will be judged both by a panel of judges (Grand Prize) and by facebook fans (Popular Prize). Winners will receive prizes donated by area attractions and businesses, such as $50 gas cards; gift cards from locally-owned restaurants Galo’s, Olde Richmond Inn, 5th Street Bagels, Ainsley’s Café, The Café 51, and Greens Fork Dinner; a gift basket from Warm Glow Candles; a lamp from Richmond Furniture Gallery; a Digital Photography Class from Richmond Art Museum; a T-shirt from Cope Environmental Center; a kids specialty crayon pack from Crayon Mavens, and possibly more to be announced at a future date.
Those who are interested in participating in the contest should visit the “Event” tab at www.facebook.com/visitrichmondin for details and rules, or contact Julie Dishman at 765-935-8687 or jdishman@visitrichmond.org. They may also visit the Old National Road Welcome Center at 5701 National Road East in Richmond to pick up the complete rules.
A flyer is being created to display at area businesses, attractions and organizations; if you would like to display the flyer, or if you would like a larger quantity of 1/2 page handouts for your customers, please contact Julie
