  • Summertime & the Reading is Easy!
May 31, 2017

I LOVE Summer reading programs!  During my own childhood and then through two generations of sharing summer reading with my children…summer holds great memories of reading!

As a child my mother would take us to the old MRL in Richmond and we would check out first picture books, then we graduated to books with words.  Later we were able to climb the winding staircase to the next level with the glass floor.   It was so exciting!

And the worlds we travelled while we read.  Every book was an adventure.

I look forward to this time every year.  My sons and I signed up for summer reading at MRL and then our young daughter when she was just a toddler.  When we moved to Centerville- we started using the library there as our main source of reading.  One summer we were very adventurous and participated in both the Centerville and Richmond library programs!

Be sure to sign up your kids for summer reading and yourself as well!  It keeps the kids up on their language skills during Summer and books are portable- take them to a park and read under a tree!

Summertime and the reading is fine!!
