Volunteers, community members, and treatment providers met Tuesday at 200 North Thirteenth Street in Richmond to continue development of Centerstone’s community-based hub for addiction service information. Called the RichmondRecovery Engagement Center, it is staffed by local volunteers and offers information and support to family and friends as well as individuals with addiction issues.
Richmond Recovery Engagement Center opened on Monday, August 1. An open house of the facility is planned for Thursday, September 1 from 3 to 5:30 pm with Richmond Mayor Sally Hutton conducting a ribbon cutting ceremony at the center at 4 pm. Grilled hot dogs, soft drinks, chips and coffee will be provided as refreshments and tours of the facility will begin at 3 pm.
Twelve-step community programs and other recovery-related groups are invited to hold meetings at the center. Supporters and volunteers who want to help others reach recovery are also encouraged to contact the center for more information at765-983-8601. The Richmond Recovery Engagement Center will be coordinating with Indiana University East Student Social Work Association to participate in their addictions day activities.
