8th Grade Scholars Award 2013Richmond, Ind. (June 7, 2013) – Six RCS students were recognized with 8th grade scholars awards on June 6th as the top male and female students with the Hillenbrand 8th Grade Scholars Award.

Recognizing academic excellence, the awards were presented during a ceremony at the Batesville High School Auditorium. The Wayne County students honored were Dennis Intermediate School Garrison Fansher and Lauren Tubesing Hibberd Building Zachary Harrison and Juliana Qin Test Intermediate School Jarrett Focht and Paige Hazelbaker.

The Richmond Community Schools students were honored alongside other 8th grade students in Indiana’s 6th Congressional District, which is represented by Luke Messer. Congressman Messer is well known for his advocacy of educational excellence and serves on the Education Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. He provided the event’s keynote address.

Dr. Allen Bourff, Richmond Community Schools Superintendent stated, “Our entire school corporation is proud of Garrison, Lauren, Zachary, Juliana and Lauren. Their hard work serves as a great example for other students. We appreciate the recognition that was given to our students and their peers from other schools by Congressman Messer and Hillenbrand.”
