richmond quilt show 2017A charity quilt made by the Wayne County Extension Homemakers Association (EHA) is just one of up to  200 quilts that will be featured during a Quilt Show held  Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20, at the Raper Center, Wayne County Fairgrounds, Richmond, IN.  The cost is $5 per person, and the hours are from 10 am to 6 pm each day.

Highlights of the show include:

-Junior quilters 18 and under will have their works featured in a special display area.

-A quilt challenge by members of the Happy Scrappers, a Wayne County quilt club.  Each member followed the same quilt pattern to create unique quilts with individual members’ color and finishing variations.

-Speakers will provide informative presentations throughout the show. They include Linda Ringley, Karen Hicks, Carol Miller, Vicki Niehaus, and Jan Livingston Brady.

-Everyone heads to our “café” at lunchtime to enjoy our “world-famous” homemade chicken salad sandwiches, fresh vegetables and dip, drinks, and homemade cakes, cookies, pies and other baked deserts.

-Those attending can bid by silent auction on the charity quilt and a variety of baskets during the quilt show. Proceeds fund two college scholarships awarded each year and also benefit Purdue Cancer Research Center.

-Other features of the quilt show include vendors and a “garage table” containing a variety of crafting surprises.

There is no charge to exhibit quilts, and you can show as many quilts as you want.  You can enter your quilts from 4-7 pm Wednesday and 8-10 am Thursday, May 17 and 18, at the Raper Center.
