It’s October in Wayne County, and we all know what that means.  Fall leaves, bonfires, hiking in the woods…yeah, yeah, yeah….but mostly it’s about Spooky Things!

Wayne County excels in bringing all kinds of spooky delights to the community for people of all ages.  Here are just a few of those events coming up: (Find more frightening yet family friendly events on our GoWayneCounty.com calendar).

Tales From The Departed

This annual event coordinated by the friends of Wayne County Historical Museum, is a favorite.  Visit with the ghosts of well known citizens of Richmond and Wayne County – graveside.  Walk through the Earlham Cemetery and stop to hear the stories of the departed, amid vehicles of the past- Model T’s & A’s.  A family friendly event from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, October 7, only.  Cost 10.00 per car.

Witch In The Woods

“The Witches are back at Hayes Arboretum! Join us Fridays and Saturdays from 6-9 PM, Oct 6th-Oct 28th for a family-friendly, spooky event. Drive the Haunted Auto Tour and find all of the witches lurking around the woods, or escape from the Witch’s Cellar by finding clues and solving puzzles.

  • Haunted Auto Tour: $20/car (Non-members); $18 (Members) **Can be bought upon arrival**   
  • Witch’s Cellar Breakout Room: $12/person (Non-members); $10/person (Members)                                   **Witch’s Cellar Break-Out Room tickets are limited! Pre-order online**

This is a kid friendly experience.  

Halloween Howl: Richmond Parks Department

Join us for our annual Halloween Howl on Saturday, October 28th from 5pm-8pm at the Tom Raper Center. *The cost for this event is one canned good item per person. There will be games and prizes! Wear your costumes and let’s have a howling good time.

This annual event has been brought to the community for many years, by the Richmond Parks and Recreation Department, and is always a crowd pleaser.  No cost to enter- canned food donations.  Games are free.  Food vendor available.

Haunted Museum

Enjoy a not- so- scary night at the museum. Come see the museum decorated for a spooky good time and enjoy exhibits indoors and outdoors as well.  Trick or Treat about the museum and grounds.

Admission: Adults $7, Children, $5  Starts Oct 13th/14th and runs through Oct 20th/21st.

InConcert: Rocky Horror Picture Show

Presented by InConcert at the 4th Floor Blues Club, this now annual event, with two shows at 7:00 pm. & 9:00 p.m. is one for the “older kids”.  Tickets are 15.00/person and can be purchased online through the Facebook page for this event here.  Shadow Cast by Ball State University Students.  October 21, 7-10 p.m.
