This week we were all able to enjoy a step back in time as our county was host to dozens of Model T’s from all over the country.
Starting on Wednesday, several Model T enthusiasts began to arrive and take part in the active schedule for the week. One of those participants was Pat McRoberts who travelled all the way from the northern Michigan town of Harrietta. Arriving on Wednesday, she and her husband enjoyed tours on both Thursday and Friday.
Spoke Tours
Pat explained that the tours, which involve longer trips to area sites, used to be called “spoke tours.” This year the tours included a trip to area museums. Pat shared that she likes this homecoming event because it’s “more informal and a lot more fun.” This was her first year and her husband’s second year to come to Richmond, the first year being the Centennial celebration. However they have both participated in events for Model T of America International, which involve hundreds of cars.
She preferred the more relaxed setting for the Model T reunion to the larger International events. As activities bustled around us, Pat was able to relax in her Model T and enjoy the view.
The Model T Homecoming is annual event attracting dozens of cars and hundreds of collectors as well as interested historians and the general public. A great job again by the organizers of this event!
