September 21, 2016 the Manpower of Richmond, IN office marks their 50th year as a Manpower franchise.  The franchise was founded in 1966 by Geneva Allen, who worked with Manpower founder Elmer Winter to establish one of the early franchises.

Though the franchise territory was one rural county in Indiana, under Geneva’s leadership and subsequently her son and grandchildren, the franchise has established a consistent record of providing staffing services to the surrounding business community and employment workforce.  Geneva’s son, Mike Allen, became an additional licensee in 1988 and now his children, Michael Allen and Debbie Whirley,  currently lead the franchise on a day-to-day basis, along with Michael’s wife, Beth Allen.  A rare three-generation franchise.  Throughout its 50 year history, Manpower of Richmond has been fortunate to have a knowledgeable and dedicated staff.

The Richmond franchise takes great pride in their close community connections.  The Allen family supports many organizations and charities in their community such as a Corporate Partner of the local Boys and Girls Club and charter member of the Chamber of Commerce and their past annual sponsorship of a “Coats for Kids” drive before each winter.

The Richmond, Indiana franchise plans to recognize its 50th Anniversary by giving five $1,000 scholarships to five graduating seniors in the Richmond/Wayne County area.  “The Geneva L. Allen, Manpower Richmond Memorial Scholarship” will be given in honor of Geneva L. Allen, founder of the local Manpower franchise office.  The five winners will be announced in May 2017.

The Manpower of Richmond franchise is thankful for the opportunity to work with area businesses for these many years.  It has been very satisfying for them to witness the hundreds of its employees who have transitioned to full time employment as a result of their job at Manpower of Richmond.
