We are lucky in Wayne County to have such a rich culture of the arts and entertainment open to the public at Earlham College. For the month of January, 2017, that is no exception. Here are some of the events open to the public:
Step Afrika (Update: postponed until later in semester- stay tuned!)

- Goddard Auditorium, Carpenter Hall
Step Afrika! was founded in 1994 and was the first professional dance company with the tradition of stepping. It now is ranked in the top 10 of African American dance companies in the US. Their shows integrate songs, storytelling and humor with audience participation. It’s an energetic show! Tickets are 8.00/person and can be purchased at the box office at Earlham.
Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration: Featuring Michael Eric Dyson
- Monday, January 16, 7:30 p.m.
- Goddard Auditorium, Carpenter Hall
Celebrating the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., the campus is host to author, scholar and cultural critic Michael Eric Dyson. This event is co-sponsored by Student Life. Tickets are 8.00/person.
Winterreise

One of Schubert’s most famous song cycles exploring the depths of love, longing and loss in a winter landscape, presented by Earlham music faculty members William Culverhouse, baritone: and Christine Rogan, piano. Free admission: no tickets required
