RCO Fall Concert Features Dave Snow as Narrator
Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 3:30 p.m., Mayor Dave Snow will be narrating the upcoming Richmond Community Orchestra concert, Peter and the Wolf, at Earlham College in Goddard Auditorium.
This is a free concert and open to the public.
“The orchestra hopes to encourage young families to feel comfortable to attend a relaxed concert setting.
Other pieces include “Symphony No. 2 in B Minor” by Alexander Borodin, “Suite: Dolly” by Gabriel Faure, “Mephisto Waltz No. 1” by Franz Liszt and “Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte” (“Pavane for Dead Princess”) by Maurice Ravel.
Membership in the orchestra is free, and is open to musicians of all ages. Current members range from high school students to those well past retirement. Some are retired music teachers and others played instruments in high school and/or college. Some members play in other ensembles, such as the Richmond Civic Theatre pit orchestra.
Members drive to Richmond for weekly rehearsals from all over the area, including Cambridge City, Centerville, Liberty and Muncie. Several musicians come from Preble County, Ohio, including conductor Jay Conard of Eaton, who also volunteers his time.
Players interested in joining the orchestra are welcome to sit in during rehearsals, which are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays at the concert site. The orchestra could especially use a few bassoonists, French hornists and cellists.
For more information about joining, email RCO at membership@rcoindiana.org.”
