Richmond, IN – The Festival of the Arts (FOTA) announces the 2011 public art competition for murals and sculpture and requests entries from artists and property owners. Artists are invited to select a wall or public space and create a mural or sculpture anywhere in Wayne County, Indiana. A cash prize of $5,000 will be awarded for a mural and $2,000 for a sculpture.
Five muralists will be awarded paint from Sherwin Williams and use of a scissor or boom lift from Airworx of Indianapolis. Five sculptors will be awarded up to $400 each for materials, moving and setting their work. All other non-awarded entries are also eligible for the top cash prizes.

Sculptors are encouraged to produce land art or recycled materials but are not limited to that media. The theme of the artwork is open but may include local history such as Starr-Gennett or the underground railroad, or contemporary, educational, or current event themes, etc.
Artists and property owners will collaborate to submit a proposal. Artists and property owners who cannot find a location or an artist are encouraged to submit their name to express interest in sharing their information.

Deadline for proposal entries for murals is May 27, 2011
