  • The Geek’s Diary: Entry 3 “Halloween!”
October 29, 2014

danielleHey what’s up you guys?! It’s Dannielle.

And guess what time it is?! Halloween! Most people are now carving pumpkins, planning costumes, going to haunted houses and trails (not too fond of the latter). Anyway, have you carved your pumpkins yet? I have, if you want to watch that see below:

dannielles story picture cat in pumpkinOkay since Halloween is supposed to be scary I’m going to join in with that spirit, and tell you guys a scary story… cue the scary music *scary music starts to play*

“Hey you guys.” I say as I walk into our place.
I get two “Hello’s” back, and I plop down on a really old torn up couch that is in the upstairs part of the barn. (Let me fill you guys in, ‘Our Place’ is a small barn out at Patrick’s house. His parents only use it to store their harvest for the fall, so at the moment their barn is full of potatoes, corn, and beans. Patrick is one of our ‘members’ in our ‘group’, the rest of the members are me and Tara).
“Guys I’m bored.” Tara says tossing an ear of corn up in the air and catching it. “Same.” I agree standing up and walking over to a list of things that we want to do.
  • TP someone’s house
  • Throw an amazing party
  • Go camping in scary woods
  • Set fire to a bag of potatoes
  • Make a potato turn purple
“Hey guys the only thing left on this list is make a potato turn purple.” I announce and turn around to grab a potato that is lying on the ground.
“We were joking about that.” Patrick says putting down his book.
“But we’re bored.” Replied Tara, “We don’t have anything else to do lets just mess around, and try to turn it purple.”
“Okay I’ll get the kit.” Patrick says leaving the room. Again let me catch you guys up. When we were cleaning out the upstairs of this barn we found this kit, thing, called Change Anything Any Color. Tara wanted to change something purple, and I wanted to change a potato a different color.
“Okay I got it!” Patrick calls holding a big box that’s as big as a board game. “Let’s do this.” Tara says standing up and runs over to Patrick.
~~~~~~
“All done.” I say holding up the potato, we successfully created a purple potato.
“Guys it’s late I’m going home.” Tara exclaims as she picks up the potato to look at it, “Can I take it home with me?”
“Yeah sure, I don’t want it.” Patrick says putting the box back into the other room. “Bye!” Tara calls over her shoulder running down the stairs.
“Bye Patrick.” I say as I descend down the stairs, and ride my bike home.
~~~~~~
“Have you seen Tara?” I ask, we are back at ‘our place’ and we haven’t seen Tara in a few days.
“No.” Patrick replies, sitting down next to me.
“Let’s go, and see if she is home.” I say, Patrick and I go over to Tara’s house. I knock on her door. Instead of Tara answering the door her mom did. “Hello Mrs. Spark is Tara home?” Patrick asks.”I’m sorry, but Tara died a few days ago.” Her mom said, “Oh she left a note saying give this back to you.” She handed Patrick the potato and closed the door. Tara is dead and now we got back the potato.
“Dude this is freakin scary.” Patrick says examining the potato. I turn and see what he was talking about. The potato just sprouted arms and legs, then it started violently shaking. It disappeared with a pop. And out of no where there was this awful scary screaming/moaning going on around both of us.
“Patrick do you hear that?” I ask looking around in all directions.
“Yeah-” Is all he gets out before there is another pop and we appeared back in the barn. “Patrick I’m scared.” I say walking towards him.
“It’s okay Jackie, I’m here.” He says engulfing me into a hug, “Jackie, there is something
I’ve been wanting to tell you, and now is a good as time as any. I just wish I told you sooner now that there is a possibility that we are going to die.” I look up at him and try to think of what he has been wanting to tell me.
“Jackie I-” Then out of no where the potato appears, but this time much bigger and with a sword.
“Patrick hurry up and tell me.” I say pulling myself out of shock.
“I love you.” And at that the giant potato grabs Patrick, and swallows him whole. “Patrick!” I scream.
‘I need to get out of here’ I think to myself. Then I remember the pitchfork that we put under the couch, and I pull it out from underneath it.
Once I successfully get the pitchfork and stand up. I realize that the giant purple potato is standing only a few feet away from me.
“I am Robert and I shall has you!” The potato roared. I pull my arm back and I throw the pitchfork straight at Robert’s head and it sinks right through the thin layer of skin. Robert falls onto the ground and doesn’t move a limb. Then it hits me, my best friends are dead and I can’t bring them back. I crouch down onto the ground, and cry. I cry as hard as my body will let me cry. Then there is darkness.
I look up and see that I am looking at the ceiling in my room. I stretch and sit up.
“It was only a dream.” I say to myself relieved, I turn to look at my nightstand, and sitting right there is a purple potato with arms and legs. With a sword in its hand. I scream, and everything goes black.
How did you guys like that? Good huh? I know I did write about potatoes. Oh well, it was nice to actually write a story.
Happy Halloween!!! *very excited wave*
