2011 Summer Photo Contest – Powered by G1013
Purpose of the Contest:
- To develop awareness of and interest in Wayne County’s varied attractions and activities
- To increase awareness and appreciation of Wayne County’s landscape and architecture
- To increase our interactions with Wayne County residents and visitors (including but not limited to facebook, Flickr, e-mail, etc.)
- To increase our residents’ and visitors’ appreciation of art and art-related activities
- To increase our digital photo library, for use in online (facebook, website, blogs), print publications (i.e. brochures, postcards, calendars, etc.) and/or photo exhibits
- It’s fun!
How to Enter:
The public (visitors and residents) are invited to submit original digital images taken in Wayne County during the summer months of 2011, to illustrate where they would go or what they would do in the area if they were a visitor here.
Photos are to be taken of attractions, exhibits/displays, public art, landscapes, historical buildings, etc. and people engaged in activities/actions – either as spectators or participants — at Wayne Co. events and attractions (museums, parks, restaurants, festivals, etc.)
Photos (at least 300 dpi) will be submitted via facebook, e-mail, Flickr and disk/jumpdrive between Memorial Day and September 30, 2011 and will be judged both by a panel of judges (Grand Prize) and by Facebook fans (Popular Prize). Winners will receive prizes to be donated by area attractions and businesses.
Grand Prize Winner (to be determined by panel of judges) will receive:
- $50 Gas Card
- Digital Photography Class from Richmond Art Museum worth $70
- Gift Card Combo Pack worth $30 from Local Restaurants Galo’s, Olde Richmond Inn, and Ainsley’s Café
- Richmond Symphony Ticket Vouchers (2)
- Tiffany Style Butterfly Lamp from Richmond Furniture Outlet
- Possibly more
Popular Prize Winner (to be determined by facebook fans) will receive:

Rules, Policies & Procedures:
Those who submit photographs must be at least 16 years of age.
Staff/Volunteers of WCCTB & their immediate family members (spouse, parent, sibling or child) are not eligible.
Only the person who took the photo may enter it; the photo must be an original and may not have been previously published; the person submitting it must own all rights to the photo and will continue to own all rights, however by submitting the photo to the contest the submitter grants the WCTTB a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, for any Tourism related purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotional materials, its website, exhibition, and commercial products. The WCCTB will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
Entries are to be digital photos, either black & white or color, at least 300 dpi, with no borders, frames, text or other graphic treatments other than cropping, tonal and color corrections.
Candid, not unnatural-looking posed shots of people are encouraged; no photo containing lewd or illegal activities will be accepted.
Photos are to be submitted electronically either by posting them on our www.facebook.com/visitrichmondin fan page, e-mailing them to jdishman@visitrichmond.org, or submitting them on our www.flickr.com/photos/visitrichmondin page.our www.flickr.com/photos/visitrichmondin You may also save the photos to a disk or jumpdrive and drop them off at the Old National Road Welcome Center, 5701 National Road East, Richmond, IN.
When submitting via e-mail, please include “Summer Photo Contest Entry” in your subject; when submitting via facebook, please include “Summer Photo Contest Entry” in your caption; when submitting a disk or jumpdrive in person, please include a note that says “Summer Photo Contest Entry” and your contact information.
There is no limit on how many photos you may submit.
Those submitted via e-mail or disk will be posted on facebook by WCCTB within 2 days of us receiving them, when possible.
Entries will be judged both by a panel of “experts” and via fans on facebook.
Facebook fans are encouraged to “like” those photos which they feel meet the standards listed below. “Likes” will be tallied after Sept. 30, 2011.
Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality and the effectiveness conveying the beauty or interesting features of Wayne County.
WCCTB reserves the right to disqualify any photo for any reason.
