For Immediate Release

Richmond Civic Theatre (RCT) has received a generous arts grant from the Wayne County Foundation. The nearly $8,000 award will be used to upgrade hardware and software to enhance office management and box office functions. Many RCT patrons have experienced a long line for tickets on the evening of a show, due both to popularity and the slowness of the current computers. “We are very excited to provide better services to our members, volunteers and audiences,” said Steve Holthouse, RCT Board president. “We are very grateful for the support, generosity and dedication of the Wayne County Foundation.”

The new software (Tick-It! Trak Pro) is a box office ticketing and point of sale system. It can handle reserved seating and general admissions, as well as retail for such things as concessions and souvenirs. Previously, RCT offered tickets online through a secondary provider. This system will allow the theatre to sell tickets via the Internet in real time while maintaining control of the dates tickets to specific shows become available. “The new system will enable the theatre to more efficiently meet the needs of our patrons,” said Bill Strauss, RCT office manager,

The theatre expects the new system to be up and running in time for their summer fundraiser production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which opens July 8.
