  • Author Visit: Nancy Werking Poling “Before It Was Legal: A Black-White Marriage”
November 27, 2017
Nancy Werking Poling, Author, will visit Richmond IN this weekend.

Nancy Werking Poling will visit Richmond IN to discuss her new book “Before It Was Legal: A Black – White Marriage (1945-1987) at two separate events in the area this Saturday.

Nancy shares that “Richmond and Earlham College play prominent roles in my most recent non-fiction book.   The book is based on my 11-day interview with a biracial Richmond couple who eventually moved to Mexico.”

According to Amazon Books, “Before It Was Legal is not a happily-ever-after story, but an honest portrayal of the love and hurt two people, not just a bi-racial couple, may encounter in an intimate relationship. It is the story of an independent white woman, a talented black man, and the times in which these two remarkable people lived.”

You can attend one (or both) of the following events this Saturday to learn more about the book and the author:

Wayne  County Historical Museum , 1150 N A St. Friday, Dec. 1, 11:00 a.m.

Two Sisters Books & More, 193 Fort Wayne Ave,  Friday, December 1, 7:00 p.m.
